Blog Thought 1 for SCH3U

Elements are everywhere and anywhere. They bond together to create compounds and interact with each other to cause reactions that we use in our everyday lives. Think of a chemical reaction that we use/see everyday and comment below.

  1. Apples that reacts with oxygen and iron that are also found in the apple. The oxidation reaction basically forms a sort of rust on the surface of the fruit. You see the browning when the fruit is cut or bruised because of these actions .

  6. Sometimes we use acetic acid to remove the water scale in the kettle, because acetic acid can make a chemical reaction with the main ingredient
in the water scale. The main ingredient of the water scale is MG(OH)2 and
CaCo3.The situation of this reaction is : 2CH3COOH+CaCO3=(CH3COO)2Ca+H2O+CO2↑
    Mg(OH)2+2HAc=Mg(Ac)2+2H2O
The acetic acid can write into a short form for HAc

  7. In summer, I'd like to drink coke to keep cooldown. When I open the bottle, soon I can see there is some boiling bubble. After drinking the coke, I always get a hiccup.
The boiling bubble is carbon dioxide. Our stomach has a higher temperature than the coke, so the stomach cannot absorb the carbon dioxide in a short time, the carbon dioxide exhaust from the mouth. And it will take away the heat to make me feel cool.
