Hello Chemists!
OK, well that last chapter was just full of math! I know we all love math, but I am happy to move on to something new.
Remember our s'more lab? Of course you do, it was delicious!! Well, I'd like everyone to think of another example of proper proportions. Can anyone think of an every day example of a limiting reactant?
Give an analogy of a limiting reactant (other than building s'mores). Think about your daily life.. I bet you'll be surprised to see how often we're "limited".
Good Luck
Ms.S.
You have until Monday Nov 22.
Some time's we cook, like the sandwich, it always the meat or the vegetable left in the sandwich. the bread is the limiting reactant. because we always can't make more sandwich because of the bread is not enough

If we are eating in Burger King, We order a burger, the 2 slices of burgers must be limiting reactant. The veggy and meat may or mya not be excess reactant. Burger have limited per burgers.
ReplyDeleteImagine you are on the highway in the winter and you realize that your heat is not working. You probably can drive faster and get home. However if you run out of gas and your car cannot run anymore. Therefore, gas is a limiting reactant. You cannot run your car without gas.
ReplyDeleteThere is a blackout in your neighborhood. There are 3 flashlights and 5 AA batteries in the house. Each flashlight needs 2 batteries meaning we need 6 in total. In this case the AA batteries would be the limiting reactant.

when trying 2 make kool-aid, ur only able to make 2L of juice per pouch. so when u hav unlimited water n only 3 pouches, ur pouches wud b the limiting reagent.

ReplyDeleteFor example, I have 4 roommates and 3 pair of chopsticks. So every time when we cook something, one of the four girls has to wait for the chopsticks. Here the chopsticks is the "limiting reaction"

In winter, we are going to go to skiing, each person needs two ski boards and one helmet. For the ski field, they always prepare more equipment to make sure that everyone has enough things to use. In this situation, peoson should be the limit reactant.
